Purrier Sets Nation-Best Time in the Mile for Women’s Track

 BOSTON – Sophomore Elinor Purrier (Montgomery, Vt.) sets a nation-best NCAA time in the mile, breaking the tape in 4 minutes, 29.71 seconds as the University of New Hampshire women's track team competed at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Friday night.

Against both collegiate and professional runners, Purrier finished fourth overall with the top collegiate time in the NCAA for a new Wildcat record. Purrier entered UNH with the mile school record set a 4:42 and has decreased that time by nearly 13 seconds throughout her two indoor seasons. Her Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) qualifying time sets her apart as one of the elite collegiate runners in the country in the event.
